The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester provides funding for community groups and projects across Greater Manchester, including the Borough of Rochdale.

We look after pots of money from many different sources. Some from the Government, some from wealthy individuals who want to give something back, and some from local businesses.
Local businesses in the Rochdale area have joined together to put money into new fund called the Borough of Rochdale Fund. This was launched initially with dormant trust assets identified by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council and the Community Foundation. IN March 2006 money from Rochdale’s Community Action Fund will also be added to this, making one big, more accessible Fund for Rochdale community and voluntary groups to apply to.
In a recent independent survey 81% of groups that had received funding from the Community Foundation said that applying for the money was easy, so don’t be put off by a bit of paperwork. Grants are available for any thing from £100 to £2,000.
The Borough of Rochdale Fund is particularly looking to support groups projects or activities that address any of the following issues: Safety, including crime and disorder; Sustainable neighbourhoods including the environment; Prosperity, skills and jobs; Lifelong learning including early years; Transport; Health and well being; Culture, sports and arts; Community Cohesion.
In March we will be holding the first panels to decide which groups will get the first funding. Each panel includes local residents, representatives from the Council and from local businesses and the Community Foundation.
