Sportman’s Evening and Dinner in aid of Springhill Hospice

Date published: 12/01/2006

The first major event in Springhill Hospice’s fundraising calendar for 2006 will be ‘A Sportsman’s Evening and Dinner’, which will take place on Friday 10 February, commencing at 7.30pm.

Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, says, “It is some years since we last held a traditional ‘Sportsman’s Dinner’ for the Hospice. If it is a success, then we both hope that it will become an annual event in support of Springhill Hospice.”

Guest speaker on the night is former Celtic, Manchester United and Scotland International footballer Paddy Crerand. Paddy was a member of the historic United side that became the first English team to win the European Cup in 1968, and a team member alongside other Old Trafford legends such as the late great George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton, Nobby Stiles and Denis Law.

Comedy will be provided by renowned Merseyside comic Tom Pepper, one of the most popular cabaret and after-dinner comics, who has had performed on TV, radio and on board some of the major cruise ships in the world.

The dinner will be a top quality three-course meal, with a vegetarian option, and three categories of tickets are available – Speaker Sponsor (£500 including 10 tickets, an advert in the souvenir menu and representation at the top table), Table Sponsor (£300 including 10 tickets and an advert in the souvenir menu) and Single Tickets at £25 per person.

Tickets and further details are available from Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office at 427 Oldham Road, Rochdale or by calling Ian Jenkins during office hours on 01706 711144 (credit/ debit card facilities available).
