Hornets sign Hughes
Date article online: 04/04/2008
Rochdale Hornets have taken highly-rated Featherstone player Carl Hughes on a month’s loan.
Hughes, 25, made 16 appearances in Rovers’ promotion-winning campaign last season, scoring eight tries.
He was keen to secure regular first team football, and Rochdale beat a number of their National League rivals to his capture.
“We’ve got a real quality player,” Hornets coach Bobbie Goulding said.
“He’s an elusive runner who I feel will strengthen our squad immensely.
“With Carl and the other players we‘ve already got in the squad, I feel we’ve got as good a back row as anyone.”
Hughes can play at both loose forward and hooker, as well as several positions in the backs.
“We’ve certainly got a very versatile player here, and he’s a good kid as well,” Goulding added.
“He will bring a lot to our team, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
