Perkins linked with Colchester switch

Rochdale midfielder David Perkins is being strongly linked with a switch to League One side Colchester United. Dale have been forced to accept a £150,000 bid for the player due a clause in his contract and Perkins will move on if he can agree personal terms.
It is believed that last week Perkins was just a few hours from a move to Stockport County after they too had a bid accepted for the player but the deal fell through because Stockport did not want to pay the wages that Perkins was asking.
Reports suggest that the midfielder wants to stay with Rochdale and only a large pay rise would tempt him to move away from the club that gave him his opportunity in League football.
Colchester boss Geraint Williams refused to comment on the speculation linking Perkins with the U's, while Dale boss Keith Hill has said that he isn't surprised at the interest in the 26-year old but was keen to emphasise that he is very much a Rochdale player at this moment in time.
