Peterborough United 3 (Mackail-Smith, Boyd, Potter)
Rochdale 1 (Dagnall pen)
Rochdale suffered defeat at the hands of Peterborough in a friendly during their pre-season tour of Spain on Saturday (12 July).
Dale went down 3-1. They were two goals down by half time, a Chris Dagnall penalty early in the second half reduced the arrears, only for Alfie Potter to score a late third and seal the win for Posh.
Pre-season signings Ciaran Toner and Clark Keltie both started the game for Dale, while new striker Jon Shaw was one of eight half-time substitutions made by boss Keith Hill.
Dale had the better of the first half but goals from Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd put Peterborough in the ascendancy.
Things did not go according to plan for Dale ahead of the game as first Iran pulled out of a scheduled friendly and then Keith Hill raised concerns over the pitch ahead of the Peterborough game, so the venue was switched at the last minute to be played where Peterborough have been training during their time in Spain.
