Witness Appeal for Spotland RTC
Date published: 11/11/2004
Traffic officers in Rochdale are appealing for witnesses following a fail to stop road traffic collision in Spotland, on Wednesday 10 November 2004.
At approximately 10.35am, a blue Honda Accord was travelling along Spotland Road heading away from the town centre, when it was involved in a collision with an 82-year-old woman who was crossing Spotland Road near to the junction of Clement Royds Street.
The Honda failed to stop at the scene and continued to travel along Spotland Road. The driver is believed to be an Asian man, aged in his thirties, with a moustache and a blue top.
The 82-year-old woman, from Rochdale, suffered head and back injuries and was taken to the Rochdale Infirmary for treatment, where she remains in a stable condition.
Spotland Road was closed at its junction with Clement Royds Street for approximately one and a half hours, while the scene was cleared.
Officers are keen to trace the driver of the Honda and would ask anyone who recognises the description given to contact the police.
Police are also interested in speaking to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the blue Honda Accord, which has possibly sustained damage to its front nearside (passenger side) as a result of the accident.
