Do your bit for national recycle week

Residents of the Rochdale borough are being urged to do their bit to help with recycling in the borough as part of a national campaign.
The council is taking part in Recycle week 2008 (2 - 6 June), aimed at encouraging people to increase the amount of waste that they recycle by highlighting the extra things that can be collected.
Figures from the environmental campaign, Wrap, indicate that if every household in Greater Manchester recycled one more aluminum drink can, steel food can, glass cooking sauce jar, plastic milk bottle and glossy magazine every week for a year, the total amount collected could help tackle climate change by saving nearly 52,000 tonnes of CO2 - the same as taking 16,000 of cars off the road!
Cabinet member for Environment and Sustainability, Councillor Wera Hobhouse said: "I'm delighted to be backing this campaign - if we all do just one more thing, together we can make a massive difference and I'd encourage everyone reading this to make the effort to help make the borough a cleaner, greener place to live both now and in the future."
