Man charged with sexual assaults

A 65-year-old man has been charged with a series of sexual assaults carried out during the 1980s.

Frank Roberts (born 02/11/42) of Westgate Avenue, Blackley, is due to appear before Rochdale Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Friday 16 May.

He is charged with five counts of gross indecency against a girl, one count of gross indecency against a boy, one count of rape and four counts of indecent assault against a girl. All of the incidents happened between 1980 and 1989.

Roberts had previously been charged with four charges of indecently assaulting two girls and a boy between 1983 and 2000. All the complainants are now adults.

He is also charged with making threats to kill a further two children.

Though Roberts lives in Manchester, the offences he is charged with are alleged to have taken place in Rochdale.

He is currently remanded in custody.
