Man arrested following armed robbery in Heywood

A 30-year-old man from Heywood has been arrested following an armed robbery at an estate agent in Heywood on Wednesday 20 September.
Shortly before 12.45pm a man entered Andrews Kelly Estate Agent on Market Place and approached the bank counter at the back of the store.
He threatened staff with what they believed to be a gun and demanded cash. Fearing for their safety the staff handed over a quantity of cash and the man ran away from the shop, turning right towards Bamford Road.
He is described as white, of slim build with a goatee beard and a shaven appearance. He was wearing blue overalls, glasses and had dark shoulder length curly hair.

A 30-year-old man from Heywood has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He continues to be questioned by officers.
UPDATE
The 30-year-old man from Heywood has been charged.
John Denby (born 16/06/1976) of Bamford Road in Heywood was charged with robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.
He is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates Court this afternoon, Friday 22 September 2006.
