Strong interest shown in wind farm proposal

Date published: 18/11/2006

Hundreds of people visited Coronation Power’s exhibition of its proposed wind farm development at Crook Hill, near Wardle.

Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to see a computer generated virtual reality display, see the proposed location of the wind turbines, talk with members of the Coronation team about the different aspects of the scheme and learn more about the potential economic and environmental benefits to the area if the wind farm is built.

Charley Rattan, Coronation Power’s Community Relations Manager said: "We were delighted with the interest shown in the exhibition and we were asked a lot of questions.  It was useful to hear what people had to say about our plans – both for and against, with regard to the immediate area, wind farm generation and the broader issues of climate change and global warming.  The Stern Report was a timely reminder that action on global change, through the development of more renewable sources of energy as well as making changes to the way we live and work, can no longer be avoided."

Following the exhibitions, Coronation Power will now be seeking planning permission to build the  wind farm.  It is Coronation’s intention to submit the planning applications before the end of the year.
