Rochdale man arrested for dangerous driving

A Rochdale man was arrested on Friday 27 July on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. This followed an incident in which a 19-year-old man suffered a serious head injury in a traffic collision in Oldham.

At around 5.25pm on Friday the man was crossing Ashton Road at its junction with Goddard Street, when he was in collision with a Nissan Primera being driven by the 27-year-old Rochdale man.

The pedestrian suffered a serious head injury in the collision and was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Hope Hospital where his condition is now critical but stable.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the Primera in the minutes before the incident to call them on 0161 856 8809.
