RBH and Council finally agree!
Date published: 22/10/2007
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) and Rochdale Council have finally come to an agreement that should see the long promised external investigation into two failed recruitment processes and the allegations surrounding RBH Chairwoman Gill Walch to go ahead.
Council Leader Alan Taylor mentioned during his speech at last week's full council meeting that progress had been made and though he said he preferred not to comment further at that stage, it now transpires, as reported on the RoFTRA web site, that RBH agreed early in the week a compromise that each organisation should write separately to the Audit Commission with the same letter: not joint commissioning, but dual commissioning as it came to be called. Draft Terms of Reference were submitted by RBH and the Council's several amendments accepted in time for commissioning letters to be despatched before the week ended.
In response, the Council have agreed that RBH can now complete the business it had expected to be conducted at its 25 September AGM as the Council will use the only vote to nod it through. The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) necessary for that completion is now likely to be convened.
