Man pleads guilty after father and son die in M62 horror smash

Date published: 17/11/2008

A man has pleaded guilty to killing a father and son after his car smashed into theirs on the M62 just outside Rochdale.

Imran Hussain, 32, of Como Avenue, Bradford, pleaded guilty today (Monday 17 November) to two counts of death by dangerous driving, and driving in excess of the alcohol limit.

Gary Proctor, 47, and his 16-year-old son James were on their way to Manchester Airport for a dream family holiday to America in the early hours of the morning on Sunday 3 August when Hussain's car smashed into them.

They had just passed Birch Services in their Fiat Punto when their car was in collision with an Audi Quattro driven by Mr Hussain.

They were taken to hospital by ambulance but their injuries were too severe to save them and they were pronounced dead a short time later.

Catherine Proctor, Gary's wife and James' mum, was also in the car at the time, but survived the collision.

Hussain is due to be sentenced on 8 December.
