Enjoy live music in Rochdale
Date published: 31/10/2008
The Back Door Music Project, of television's 'Secret Millionaire' programme, has launched a new music night for the older generation to support the gigs that they put on for up and coming local bands.
The nights, at the Broadwater Centre on Smith Street, involves signed bands playing as the headline act, with Rochdale based as support acts.
This Saturday (1 November), sees Nine Below Zero take to the stage as the second act to play one of the nights at the new venue.
Last month the shows opened with Connie Lush as the headline act. The 70 strong crowd were thrilled by her set, with excellent singing and a superb performance from her band.
Organiser Dave Hoyle said: "Her stage presence and performance blew everyone away.
"We hope once people realise what we are doing, which is to bring signed bands to Rochdale and put local bands on as support acts, with the hope of raising the band's profile, and raising money to support the Back Door Music Project."
After the new year the venue is fully booked every Saturday night with local and up and coming bands from around the country, as well as bands from around the world who are on tour.
Entry fee to see Nine Below Zero is £15. The Broadwater Centre is fully licensed.
