Pedal power in fight against crime
Date published: 28/07/2008
Police in north Rochdale will be patrolling the area on four new pedal bikes from today, Monday 28 July.
Two of the bikes were funded by the Rochdale Town Centre Management Company, and it is hoped they will improve the service officers deliver to people in the town.
Inspector James Troisi of the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “These bikes are a real asset to the team, as they will enable our officers to patrol larger areas more easily and respond to incidents more quickly while still remaining accessible to the public.”
Debbie O’Brien, Town Centre Manager for Rochdale, added: “We are happy to contribute funding to these bikes. Surveys show that people want police to be more visible on the streets, and the bikes will help to raise awareness of officers patrolling the town centre and other areas where they are used.”
