Feel Good Festival gets off to a scorching start

The Feel Good Event at The Butts, Rochdale, got off to a scorching start; the event includes everything from cookery demonstrations with celebrity chef Aazam Ahmad (BBC Fusion Chef) to beauty therapies, music and dance. 

The first demonstration with Aazam Ahmad was a children’s cookery demonstration with students from Shawclough Primary School, they cooked a salmon with mushroom omelette using local cheese which was served on a toasted bagel. Following this they cooked a spicy omelette using peppers, tomatoes, local cheese and flaked chilli and instead of a bagel, this was served on a hot wrap. To finish they prepared a fresh fruit cocktails, all the courses were then shared with the spectators in the marquee, as well as organic cookies and yoghurt, courtesy of Marks and Spencers.

Asked how he felt the school children performed Aazam Ahmad said “I think the kids are superb, bearing in mind that they’re only around nine years old, and they’re really lovely kids.”

Darren Marshall from Beluga Restaurant at the Broadfield Hotel then took to the kitchen, and provided more mouth watering meals, which were followed by another demonstration from Aazam Ahmad.

Other activities on offer were the quality food market, diet and training tips from the Rochdale Hornets rugby team, plus a huge selection of entertainment from various other performance companies in and around Rochdale.

The event continues on Saturday with more cookery demonstrations, and more entertainment.
