Kidney Research Dam Busters
Date published: 26/04/2006
Rochdale daredevils are being asked to try something that will get their adrenaline pumping and appeal to their adventurous side and to join Kidney Research UK’s team of 'Dam Busters', in a 200ft abseil challenge down the dam wall at Baitings Reservoir, Ripponden, West Yorkshire on Sunday 21 May.
People of all levels of fitness and experience can take part, and no preparation is necessary. Full safety equipment will be provided, and a team of qualified instructors will be on hand to give full training. They will also be able to guide those who are a little nervous through the experience, and offer help, advice and encouragement all the way down.
Community Fundraising Manager, Dawn Jennings says “It’s 200 feet of pure fun and is spectacular to look at! It’s a great activity to get involved in with your colleagues, mates or family and will be a refreshing change from your usual weekend activity. The instructors are highly experienced, so people will feel safe and supported throughout, and will take with them the satisfaction of having completed the challenge and having raised much-needed money that will help fund research to save lives. So come on down daredevils and take on our challenge!”
There is a registration fee of £10 for each participant, which includes a t-shirt, and you need to commit to raising a minimum of £75 in sponsorship or £50 if under 18.
If you would like to take part in this exciting challenge, or would just like some more information, please call Dawn Jennings on 0161 282 8284 or email dawnjennings@kidneyresearchuk.org
