Safer cycling in store for Rochdale borough

Date published: 20/09/2005

Secure cycle lockers are now available at sites around Rochdale Town Centre.

The lockers are aimed at Town Centre commuters wanting secure long stay cycle parking.

Anyone working and commuting into Rochdale Town Centre can apply for exclusive use of one of the lockers.

In all, there are sixteen self-contained cycle lockers. Four are located outside Electric House on Smith Street, eight in the Town Hall Square and four on Reed Hill Car Park.

The lockers are managed by the Sustainability Team at Rochdale Council and anyone wishing to register for sole use of a locker should ring 01706 864357.

Accompanying the lockers, cyclists can also pick up a copy of the new Rochdale Borough Cycle Map. The map shows the best routes for cyclists around the borough, including cycle paths and roads with cycle lanes. Rochdale Borough Cycle Forum has developed the map, which provides information for new and experienced cyclists on routes across the Borough. Designed for both leisure routes and commuting, the map will be available from Customer Service Centres and Countryside Visitor Centres, or directly from the Sustainability Team at Rochdale Council.
