Family thanks Rochdale Online Readers’ Whip Round

A local family have shown their gratitude to Rochdale Online readers for a very successful ‘whip round’, after having been knocked back by a travel company over expensive holiday funds.

A frequent message board user, known as Charly, kindly nominated the family for the much deserved holiday. Complications were met when financial disagreements with the travel company arose, plus a need for ‘extra requirements’ for one of the children who has multiple health problems.

The dream holiday initially appeared to be impossible due to the unexpected financial problems. This prompted the Rochdale Online Message Board Readers to act, and they started up a ‘whip round’ in order to make it happen.

Astonishingly, 16 separate people gave generously, resulting in a £540 collection, which is over the amount needed for the family to go away. Councillor Jean Ashworth, who has worked hard to bring the issue to the surface, is extremely happy with the outcome, “This family really deserve to go on holiday.” She said. “Charly has unselfishly supported this family for years and more so since their daddy died quite recent and sudden.”

The happy family of four are due to travel to Disneyland, Florida this summer.
