Lottery tickets available for first time in UK pubs
Date published: 28/09/2007
Available for the first time in UK Pubs, Lottery King launched its pull tab lottery tickets. The first pubs in the UK to take advantage of the changes to the gambling laws were 22 JW Lees Pubs.
The first pub to have the Lottery King machine installed was the JW Lees Lancashire Fold pub in Middleton on the 04/09/07. The pull tab lottery tickets offer a 50% average payout, with prizes ranging from £2 to £100, and each ticket costs just £1.
As well as offering a prize to the customer, 20% of the proceeds go to charity. Causes supported include the Royal British Legion poppy Appeal, and Kids In Need Foundation.
Steve Nutter and Cate Gale, managers at the Lancashire Fold said the Lottery King machine was proving a big hit. Mr Nutter said: "it offers something new to our customers, and is a bit of fun whilst you’re enjoying your usual drink".
